We have a lively and growing program for our youth and families.
Kids of all ages participate in the first 15 minutes or so of our regular intergenerational Sunday services and then spend the rest of the service together in our designated youth space next door, where they engage in fun, hands-on activities designed to build community, foster creativity, and explore the world's religious beliefs and traditions.
Our trained Educator of Children and Youth, Lindsey Scherloum, leads the program, with help from 1-2 additional adult volunteers from the church each week.
Monthly group get-togethers and family outings, such as camping trips, hikes and picnics, offer additional opportunities for friendship-making and community-building. Our youth will occasionally help lead services or present their knowledge and talents to the greater church community through special performances and presentations.
We also offer Our Whole Lives (OWL) sexuality education for youth. Developed by the Unitarian Universalist Association, OWL is a comprehensive lifespan sexuality education curriculum that shares honest, accurate, and age-appropriate information about human bodies, sex and sexuality, helping participants make informed and responsible decisions about their relationships, sexual health and behavior. This programming is optional and is offered to different age groups at different times.
